PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Welder who understands the demands of a transport environment and can look at a job, determine what needs to be done, execute the repair correctly and take responsibility for the finished product.

Truck and trailer welding/repair experience is essential.

To perform high-quality welding, fabrication, repairs and maintenance on trucks, trailers and related transport equipment, ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualified Welder / relevant welding qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years’ extensive welding experience, preferably in a truck, trailer or heavy-vehicle environment.
  • Proven experience in structural welding and fabrication.
  • Experience repairing truck trailers, chassis, frames, gates, brackets and related components.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to assess repair requirements and determine the appropriate method and materials.
  • Good knowledge of welding equipment, tools and workshop safety.
  • Ability to read and work from basic measurements/drawings will be advantageous.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform welding, fabrication and structural repairs on trucks and trailers.
  • Inspect equipment and identify welding and repair requirements.
  • Cut, grind, drill, shape and fabricate metal components as required.
  • Ensure all repairs are structurally sound and meet required quality and safety standards.
  • Take full ownership of jobs allocated, from assessment through to completion.
  • Plan and prioritise work and ensure tasks are completed within required timeframes.
  • Work independently and take initiative rather than requiring constant supervision.
  • Maintain welding equipment, tools and a clean and safe work area.
  • Report additional defects or repairs identified during work.
  • Comply with all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
