Critical-Thinking Skills: Store supervisors will need to devise plans of action and assess those plans regularly.
Organizational Skills: Multiple orders, people and many moving pieces will keep Store supervisors on their toes.
Time Management: You will be working with employees, customers and management. You might have to create schedules, order supplies and write reports. Time management is essential to make sure everything gets done.
5years+ working experience in stores (Leadership Position)
Successful Store supervisors know what is going on in their Stores. They have knowledge about objectives and plans, their product, organizational hierarchy etc. It is necessary for them to store all this information otherwise they will not know where to look for information about all these matters.
They also possess technical knowledge such as production technology, basic principles of management like planning, organizing, directing, motivating and controlling. But these are not the only qualities and skills a Supervisor, leader or decision maker needs to be successful
Emotional balance: The supervisor works in situations which involve authority, leadership, meeting targets and deadlines, conflicts etc. The successful Store supervisor has to be able to maintain emotional balance and self-control so that they may face various situations confidently and successfully.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
NQF 4 or equivalent Job experience
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
· Must have the knowledge and ability to supervise a store
· Knowledge in business is a plus and the ability to train people
· Knowledge in store operations. Knowledge of bar-coding system is a plus
· Must have good communication skills
· Must be courteous to customers.
